Join Health Management Associates (HMA) for a three-session webinar to learn more about Harm Reduction and how to optimize it in various settings. During this engaging and experiential convening, experts in the field will review California’s Standing Order and Good Samaritan Laws, how naloxone can reverse an overdose plus additional action steps to save a life. Other topics include information about the risks of fentanyl, fentanyl strips and a review of California’s Naloxone Distribution Program.

Session I will focus on Overdose Prevention Training. After this virtual workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain what is meant by Harm Reduction
  • Understand the California Standing Order and the Laws that protect overdose responders
  • Describe the mechanism of action of naloxone and how individuals can access naloxone in California
  • Be able to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose
  • List at least three factors that contribute to the risks of overdose from Fentanyl and other synthetic opioids
  • List three harm reduction strategies for preventing opioid-related overdose
